#+title: sparkly-ebuilds #+author: winter Sparkles this is a collection of gentoo packages you can use but i just made them for myself * plover install =app-text/plover= for the open source stenography engine [[https://opensteno.org/plover/][Plover]]. it's written in python, currently targeting python 3.13, but in my testing it also works flawlessly on 3.14. note that the only officially supported installation method is appimage; personally i hate appimages so that's why i made this set of packages but do bear in mind it may have sneaky unexpected bugs. if you encounter any bugs using this package please report them to *me* and not to the upstream plover project unless they also occur with the appimage. ** plugins - the integrated Plugins Manager inside plover will not work, as it tries to install python modules globally which is blocked by gentoo. therefore you have to install them via portage. i packaged a few here - see the category =plover-plugin= (e.g. =plover-plugin/lapwing-aio= for [[https://lapwing.aerick.ca/][Lapwing]] support) - =app-text/plover2cat= for the transcription software [[https://plover2cat.readthedocs.io/][Plover2CAT]] * niri-screenshot-tools install =gui-apps/niri-screenshot-tools= for the awesome cool software that lets you annotate and upload your screenshots from niri (source [[https://codeberg.org/whenthesilly/niri-screenshot-tools][here]])! beware it's a live ebuild so you have to unmask it in your system portage config * hare stuff ** bunnytask install =app-text/bunnytask= for the cool and skrunkly TODO.TXT task manager made by my beautiful wife :D (it's live, pls unmask) ** lettuce install =dev-hare/lettuce= for my hare utilities library * games ** vintage story install =games-action/vintage-story-bin= for the voxel sandbox survival game [[https://www.vintagestory.at/][Vintage Story]]. currently the package is not very well tested and also is amd64 only. if you find a bug tell me ** blue prince install =games-puzzle/blue-prince-bin= for the roguelike puzzle game [[https://blueprincegame.com/][Blue Prince]]. needs unmasking and also needs you to provide a cracked copy of the windows game files (ask me for a magnet link ^_^). the advantage of my crappy ebuild is that it conveniently sets up a wineprefix for you according to what i found is necessary for it to run well, plus it creates a desktop entry to launch the game from your desktop environment. if you're trying to install it and it's giving you checksum errors just pass =--digest= to emerge, that will make it ignore the manifest file. the checksum in the manifest file is for my copy but depending on where you got your copy it may well be different. this is fine though you can probably just ignore it!! in the future i might try to make a fancy linux-native repack of this game, since it just uses unity engine and a few fairly common-looking plugins. watch this space :3 * miscellaneous software - =app-crypt/keyroost= is a command line (and graphical, unless you disable =gui= use flag) management tool for a few usb security keys such as yubikeys and token2 keys. it's fully vibecoded by the project owner's own admission, so i don't really like using it, but it's the only way i can see to manage PIV credentials on my token2 devices on linux - =media-sound/pocketsphinx= is CMU PocketSphinx, a relatively well established speech recognition library. it's generally not as good as newer asr systems but it's nice and small and has a convenient api and /is/ better than the old sphinx2 which is available in gentoo main repository - =gui-wm/cow= is the wayland compositor [[https://codeberg.org/thomasadam/cow][CoW]], which is based on river and has a cool fvwm style of operation, i recommend it * shitposts =sparkly-misc/wruff= literally just puts a message saying "wruff!" as its post-installation task and does literally nothing else it doesn't actually install anything. i don't know why i did this to be honest. if you will use it i suggest don't add it to your world set just oneshot it
